*I'm thankful for a stranger who walked into my son's life today. Over a year ago i signed him up with the Big Brothers program. Last week we finally got the call, and today he met his new big brother for the first time. I know how busy life can be. And I am so thankful that there are people out there who are willing to give of themselves, and spend the time with kids, to give them what they need. I hope this evolves into something long term for my son. I hope it provides him some of the things I can't provide. But today, listening to him teach his new big brother how to play video games, I'm just thankful that Gavin has found a new friend, and the Elvin has found room in his own busy life for a little boy......
*I'm thankful for the boy my son has grown into. Listening to him practice to read today - he's now at an E level - makes me so proud. I know he is not an academic. That he would rather be playing. But he tries. And it is showing. He's a smart, caring, outgoing, thoughtful, polite little man. I take some of the credit for that. But I think he comes by a lot of it naturally too......
*As Gavin snuggles in with me for the night, I'm also thankful that he is still a little boy who needs his mom. Because I need him too. And even when he goes to school, and makes new friends, at the end of the day, when the sun goes down and the lights go off, he is still completely mine <3
